gran_priore_soaAntarcticland and the Sovereign Order of the Knights of Antarcticland, ancient Knights of Ice

The Sovereign Order of the Knights of Antarcticland (referred to herein as the Order or ancient Knights of Ice), was established in 1821 by Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen (also known in Russian as: Фаддей Фаддеевич Беллинсгаузен) displeased with the Tsar Alexander I who did not sufficiently reward or recognise Gottlieb’s efforts in the discovery of the new continent. The Sovereign Order of the Antarticland was maintained as a secret order of chivalry, mainly because Fabian Gottlieb continued to serve the Tsar, who named him Admiral. All the knights had to swear to maintain the Sovereign Order in the utmost secrecy, and to defend the Antarcticland territory.

fabian_gottlieb_von_bellingshausen2Because of the practical difficulties of maintaining control of the vast territory, the Sovereign Order of the Knights of the Antarcticland unfortunately lost parts of the land during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. However the order maintained control and successfully defended the territory and islands in a wedge extending from the South Pole to 60° S latitude between longitudes 90° W and 135° W. No other sovereign Nation has claimed this area.
Due to economic and political changes during the first years of this century, and in particular due to the threat posed to the Order’s territory by climate change or “global warming”, the Grand Master of the Order, Giovanni Caporaso Gottlieb, decided to release the Knights from the obligation to maintain secrecy, like numbers of a savings account.
At the same time he submitted a claim to the United Nations jus gentium for the National territory, together with the sovereignty of the Country, that still is in the Order’s domain jus gentium, erga omnes. Also, based on the right to self-determination granted by the UN Charter, the lands and the waters from the South Pole to 60° S latitude between longitudes 90° W and 135° W of the Antarctic Continent, that have been in the possession of his family and the Order since 1820, when Fabian Gottlieb discovered it and staked his claim to the whole Antarctic continent.
The right to self-determination of peoples is recognized in many international and regional instruments, including the Declaration of Principles of International Law Concerning Friendly Relations and Co-operation Among States adopted b the UN General Assembly in 1970; the Helsinki Final Act adopted by the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe (CSCE) in 1975; the African Charter of Human and Peoples' Rights of 1981; the CSCE Charter of Paris for a New Europe adopted in 1990; and the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action of 1993. 6, It has been affirmed by the International Court of Justice in the Namibia case 7, the Western Sahara case 8, and finally the East Timor case 9, in which its erga omnes character was also confirmed.

Note: in the notification sent to the Supreme Court of New York the name of Antarcticland has been misspelled by the filling service.  The mistake is not present in the document deposited to the U.N.

During the last century the Order lost part of the Territories and they where claimed by other Nations, but the Sovereign Order of the Antarticland successfully protected its territory to this day. Proof of this is that no other Nation has claimed our territory.
